Folksight™
Caribbean folklore and culture for strategic foresight.
Folksight™ helps people see complex challenges and possible solutions more clearly by bringing diverse perspectives into the room and making sense of them together.
Select Flourish by Design Folksight™ lenses, Tanty and Mama Dlo & Papa Bois, help people see and prioritise differently.
Folksight™ is Flourish by Design’s approach to collective sense-making. It is grounded in the idea that the way we see and think shapes our priorities and the solutions we imagine.
Developed as a Caribbean culture and folklore lens-game within Flourish’s strategic design practice, Folksight™ invites participants to shift perspective, question assumptions, and notice patterns that are often missed. Drawing on story, symbol, and centuries of lived knowing, it uses characters whose worldviews have travelled across time and place. These perspectives have adapted, endured, and remain rooted in Caribbean stories shaped over time.
By combining design methods, Caribbean cultural intelligence, and real-world context, Folksight™ creates space for multiple viewpoints, particularly those that are often overlooked in conventional planning and strategy processes. It helps teams surface lived realities, uncover hidden dynamics, and explore possibilities beyond the limits of the present moment.
Folksight™ has been used to support grounded conversations and thoughtful discussions about what comes next. You can learn more through our published reflections on our Mekkit blog and through founder Debbie Estwick’s Carifesta Big Conversation presentation.
